Let’s be real: Are you dreading agency life?

We all love working in agencies, but sometimes it can get overwhelming.

Which begs the question: Do you often find yourself with a lot on your mind?

If so, you’re not alone.🫂

I’ve had my fair share of juggling project deadlines while navigating a sea of distractions—colleagues chatting, constant client updates, and the never-ending pressure to stay on top of everything.

But then, I joined a content writer role at clickTRUE, an inbound marketing agency and discovered mindfulness.

And everything changed for me.

Back to Basics: What is Mindfulness 🤔?

Sometimes, while I’m sitting at my desk, my mind drifts to thoughts about lunch while checking emails. Or when in meetings, I often daydream about my plans over the weekend.

It’s normal to have constant thoughts, but they can stop me from getting things done.

So, how do I quiet the chattering noises in my head?

By staying present in the moment, that is!

Mindfulness, as explained by the Oxford Mindfulness Center, means being aware of your experiences from moment to moment without judging them.

Okay, now you know the basics, let me tell you how it is in practice.

How clickTRUE’s Mindful Ways Just Gets Me 🫂

Usually in the midst of chaos, I will crash and burn, not knowing where to start.

BUT since working here in clickTRUE: They taught me how to stay mindful with tools!

Here’s a trade secret from my writer’s department: our approach to using Asana is unique and highly effective.

We have a routine called daily stand-ups where every morning, we specifically have our own project tab to record our ongoing tasks in Asana and openly discuss our feelings and the challenges we foresee in completing them.

I find the way we work here is often practical and helps us declutter our minds to focus on one thing at a time.

And you know what? I started to notice some real changes in myself:

  • Better Memory Recollection

To be fair, even though I’m in my late 20s,  my memory is ageing prematurely and I’m as forgetful as a 60-year-old grandma.

But since I’ve started listing out tasks, I can keep track of my daily, weekly, and monthly to-dos. It also helps me foresee stressful weeks, allowing me to prepare by either tackling tasks early or doing the necessary research in advance.

  • Stronger Relationships

I also found myself being more compassionate in my actions, especially when working with others.

In an agency, it’s quite normal to collaborate with others and sometimes the pressure of handling multiple projects can put your work relations to the test.

In the heat of the moment, everything can be overwhelming and the anger in you can slowly start to bubble.

But by being mindful and taking a breather, I now have a reason to reflect my emotions.

This has allowed me to respond how I would like to the situation vs how I would impulsively react.

Honestly, mindfulness put into practice has been truly effective!

BUT Don’t Just Take My Words For It!

I keep this quote in mind as a reminder and guide to how I prioritise my daily tasks.

As a digital marketer, I’m heavily invested in handling multiple campaigns simultaneously and thus, I have to be mindful of the time I spend for each campaign daily.

Truth be told, I work 9-6 and I love sticking to those hours.

Coming to clickTRUE, my seniors were savvy in their use of tools and got me onto  Pomodoro Technique, which is a time management productivity tool.

Pomodoro Technique

Managing 8–10 campaigns means my time spent on each isn't always equal.

With the Pomodoro Technique, I set a 25-minute work interval for each campaign, followed by a 2-30 second break.

Breaking my day into smaller portions of time-based tasks has kept my mind sane and my campaign results insane!

As an AE, I handle client management and manage internal team processes to meet campaign deliverables.

Three qualities that clickTRUE cultivated me to practice mindfulness are intention, attention and attitude

Let me break it down for you:

Intention: I am aware of my client's & team's needs and I try to understand how I can smoothen the relationship and work process.

Attention: I am present to answer their queries and offer help whenever and wherever needed.

Attitude: I actively listen to the challenges shared by clients and my internal team and we look for solutions that are not bias.

By putting into practice, I bonded closer with my fellow colleagues and clients as the trust and patience was formed.

Personally, it helped me become aware of my client's brand and needs, so I will share any relatable news and info that can be impactful to their overall business.

Conclusion

At clickTRUE, you're always supported.

We deeply value the practice of mindfulness and have woven it into the fabric of our work culture.

If you happen to stumble to the end of this article and are looking for a fresh start in the workforce, we have some job openings for your consideration!
